Synopsis

In 2018, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) selected us as the lead sponsor of Massive, the gallery's annual fundraiser.

Our goal was to create a night to remember, playing on the evening's theme "illusion" inspired by Yayoi Kusama's infinity mirrored room, then on exhibit.

Through experimentation, we explored real time forms and motion, arriving at an interactive installation that challenged guest perceptions of what is real.

  • Among the first interactive exhibitions at the AGO

  • Audio Reactive

  • Responsive to Crowd Input & Movement

  • Millions of organic shares on social media

Impetus

Yayoy Kusama's breakthrough exhibit inspired our thinking around what was possible. We diverged from the sentiments of her body of work which toggle between self-reflection and solitude, to focus on an experience that could bring people together in a moment of celebration.

Achieving our goal to play with people's sense and emotions differently.

We focused our concepts around sight, hearing, joy and surprise. We used simple shapes to create an infinite space which surprised the crowd by mirroring themselves in an abstract manner.

Additionally, we connected the visuals with the DJ booth making the experience fully audio reactive responding not only to the viewers dance moves, but to the music itself.

The Last Word

We placed guests in an abstract, infinite place. Using motion tracking technology, we allowed them to see a reflection of themselves in a virtual universe.

Since the event, the installation has been featured in award shows and publications around the world.

Additionally, NDIMENSION laid the foundation for our internal Presence experiential product in use today, allowing us to co-create breathtaking live visuals, enabling moments of joy and togetherness.
